Hello!

My name is Kevin Scannell but I “dropped the ‘i’” from my name and often go by Kevn because my left eye was enucleated when I was two .)

I am a Multimedia Animator, Producer, Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Web Developer currently based in Chicago, IL where I work both as an individual freelancer, and a lead producer at my animation production company, Loose Change Animation, LCC (founded January 2019).

I love getting to know people and help them figure out what they want. I have a great deal of experience consulting with, developing, selling and producing concepts with clients one-on-one, groups, small businesses, non-profits, and with large corporations like Universal Music Group or Momentum Marketing WW, Chicago. 

One of my fortes is learning new & evolving systems quickly to help clients navigate their unique set of goals and ambitions. There are a million ways to turn a screw, and I’d love to tell you which ones best for you.

LOOSE CHAAANGE

My team and I’s work has been featured across social media platforms, advertising, music fesivals, news publications, art studios, in print, or wherever media is found.

At Loose Change Animation we typically use Blender 3D for our productions, because I love the ethos of open source technology, but myself and L.C.Animation’s Team Members are also all versed in industry standard Animation and Multimedia production programs, such as: 

Adobe Creative Suite, TVPaint, ToonBoom 2D, Cinema4D, AutoDesk Maya, Nuke, Substance Painter, etc.  

I try to do what I love, and push all of my Team Members & contributors to focus on making the content in the ways that they themselves love. Everyone has preferences, versatilities, and limits. I believe when you can identify what you or someone else enjoys, wants, and needs in a healthy work environment, together you can develop much more fruitful and meaningful content for everyone involved.

Working with people, or life rather, I think is a never ending, ever-changing and humbling learning experience that we can all grow from together.

MY BACKGROUND

I have a formal BA in Animation from DePaul University (2019) where I studied traditional 2D & 3D Animation Production Pipelines such as: the more traditional Disney / Pixar / Golden-Age-WarnerBros’s Pipelines, what I like to call ‘run-and-gun’ productions where plans change on the fly, or even more concept-focused processes like developing Animation Pitch Bibles to be sold & pitched to networks rather than explicitly produced.

In my time leading Loose Change I have developed a thorough knowledge of just about everything that goes into an animation production, concept development, pitching, or what have you. I could reiterate the steps off my hand, and have also developed streamlined, proprietary calculators whereby I could quickly help you realize just what your ideas could entail. 

Wanna make a scarecrow rob a local hay-bank to buy gifts for the local, needy farm birds & horses, animated in the style of 1970’s stop motion film, Santa Clause is Coming to Town?
